Federal & State Programs

White County receives multiple federal grants to supplement state and local funds to ensure a quality education for all students. All of the elementary schools in White County receive Title I monies that pay for instructional supports that normally would not be available to students due to lack of funding.

TITLE I, PART A: IMPROVING THE ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT OF DISADVANTAGED STUDENTS

Purpose: Enable schools to provide opportunities for at-risk and disadvantaged children to acquire the knowledge and skills contained in the challenging state content standards and to meet the challenging state performance standards developed for all children.

TITLE I, PART D: HOMELESS, MIGRANT, NEGLECTED AND DELINQUENT STUDENT SERVICES

Purpose: To improve educational services for homeless and migrant students and children and youth in local and state institutions so that such students have the opportunity to meet the same challenging state academic content standards that all children in the state are expected to meet.

TITLE II, PART A: SUPPORTING EFFECTIVE INSTRUCTION GRANT

The purpose of the Title II, Part A grant is

  • to increase student achievement consistent with challenging state academic standards,

  • to improve the quality and effectiveness of teachers, principals and other school leaders,

  • to increase the number of teachers, principals and other school leaders who are effective in improving student academic achievement in schools, and

  • to provide low-income and minority student greater access to effective teachers, principals and other school leaders. 

TITLE IV, PART A: STUDENT SUPPORT AND ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT

Purpose: To improve students' academic achievement by increasing the capacity of States, LEAs, schools, and local communities to:

  • provide all students with access to a well-rounded education,

  • improve school conditions for student learning, and

  • improve the use of technology in order to improve the academic achievement and digital literacy of all students.

TITLE V, PART B: RURAL EDUCATION INITIATIVE
